From 1920 until 1947 the squadron was equipped with bombers, while from 1948 became a transport Squadron being equipped with aircraft such as the Dakota, the Argosy (Whistling Tit), Hercules, and recently the A400M Atlas.
In August 2021, the Squadron was involved in the largest Royal Air Force Airlift since the Berlin Airlift (Operation Pitting).
